[CHIMERA PROJECT – ACTIVE DOSSIER]

File Name: CHIMERA X_011
Birth Name: Tiramisu
Species of Origin: Mobian Borzoi
Current Classification: Preliminary Hybrid Subject
Age: 6 (at time of entry into the Empire)

Acquisition Report:

The subject was delivered by her mother under the pretense of “treatment” for an unnamable behavioral condition. The woman appeared desperate, though her anxiety gradually proved more to do with self esteem than compassion. She spoke of her child’s “broken mind”, her inability to connect, her fixation on distress, as though she were trying to distance herself from any blame. I am not so easily fooled.Upon observation, I quickly determined the mother’s diagnosis to be inaccurate. The girl’s condition is not some nameless disorder. It is the residue of trauma. Her mother’s delusion is nothing more than guilt wearing the mask of ignorance. The child’s behaviors are far too patterned, far too deliberate, to be the result of brain defect or disease.

Initial Observations:

Subject X_011 exhibits an unusual form of emotional response: affection and attachment manifest only under duress. She appears capable of tenderness, seeking proximity, eye contact, and physical closeness, but only when pain or fear is present. When unprovoked, she is listless, silent, and withdrawn. When scolded, struck, or frightened, she becomes animated, even affectionate, pressing close to the source of her distress as if the two sensations of hurt and comfort were one and the same.It is as if she has learned to associate pain with reassurance The more distress she feels, the more love she expresses.Fascinating.I have noted that she does not react to standard nurturing behaviors (kind words, gentle touch, reassurance.)They produce no response, but the instant negative stimulus is introduced, her demeanor changes. Her eyes widen, her posture softens, and she clings to the source of the aggression. The emotional wiring here is backward. Inverted.... And therefore, extremely exploitable.

Behavioral Notes:

To study the phenomenon further, I began with minor provocations: sharp remarks, unexpected shoves, brief physical discomforts. Her reaction pattern remained consistent. She displayed heightened attention and a tendency to attach herself physically to me afterward, clinging to my coat or sleeve as though I were a lifeline. It was only after repeated exposure that I began to understand the specificity of her attachment. She doesn’t respond this way to all figures of authority. Only to me. She behaves toward me in a distinct manner. Needy, reverent. I hypothesize that the one responsible for her trauma was a father figure. Her reaction patterns suggest that she interprets my presence as a repetition of that original relationship. It is a profoundly useful dynamic. A child who equates pain with love will never betray the hand that harms it. It will cling to it all the more tightly.

Branding Procedure:

As per Empire protocol, I marked her with the standard insignia. Interestingly, during the branding, she exhibited neither panic nor resistance. Instead, she began laughing. On few occasion, I had caught the behavior from her, but only in fleeting moments of hysteria. This time, she was unfiltered with manic energy, nearly inconsolable. Most children scream when they’re branded. She smiled. That moment confirmed my hypothesis:The child’s nervous system and emotional regulation are cross-wired. Pain does not repel her; it attracts her.

Early Integration into Chimera Trials:

Subject has been cleared for early-stage hybridization protocols. Her genome shows ideal compatibility with Borzoi stock, a hunting breed selected for its grace and fear-driven obedience. Given her psychological profile (and of course, mobian makeup), the pairing is almost poetic. The Borzoi’s submissive temperament and capacity for attachment under pressure mirror her existing conditioning. At this stage, physiological mutation has begun: subtle restructuring of muscle density and nerve responsiveness. When subject is removed from stasis, she reports no discomfort (a lie, of course. She simply does not recognize discomfort as undesirable). Her responses to pain stimuli have become even more complex since integration began. I’ve observed trembling, but not from fear.Perhaps anticipation. She reacts to distress with what can only be described as affection. She leans toward whoever inflicts it.If properly harnessed, this inversion of instinct could form the basis for a new obedience model. Imagine soldiers who bond through discipline not from loyalty or fear, but from their need to be hurt by command.

Emotional Conditioning Trials:
Her behavioral triggers are now being mapped alongside her physiological ones.

  • Affection Response: Triggered by harm, scolding, or rejection.
  • Avoidance Response: Triggered by silence, indifference, or gentle behavior.
  • Attachment Response: Intensifies following pain administered by a dominant figure (most notably myself).

Her emotional reward system appears to have been rewritten by trauma. She only experiences validation when suffering. In the absence of such stimuli, she grows restless and agitated, often seeking confrontation to restore the pattern.

To withhold harm from her is, paradoxically, to punish her.
To inflict harm is, in her mind, to love her.
Preliminary Psychological Summary:
She is not defective. She is conditioned.
Her trauma has rewired her capacity for affection into a survival mechanism. She loves pain because it is the only language she knows.
I am beginning to suspect that this makes her far more valuable than I first assumed. A creature that bonds only through harm will never abandon its handler. Pain, to her, is trust.

I have chosen to continue her observation personally. The Chimera Project needs examples that can demonstrate absolute obedience without the need for persuasion. X_011 may be the prototype of that principle through pure, psychological redefinition of affection itself.

Her transformation is underway. I will see how deep the conditioning can go.
If she survives it, and I believe she will, she will not simply serve the Empire.

She will belong to it.

Date: Approximately 6 months before the termination of the Chimera Project.

As the Chimera Project entered its final stages, I began to seek out new subjects and experiments that could provide further insight into the hybridization process, particularly with the most dangerous of the Empire's creations. During this time, a young maned wolf I had named Chromium was introduced. He was not a subject of the Chimera Project but rather a child recruited into the Empire at the age of 14, alongside his younger sister, to train as personal wardens and enforcers.Chromium's arrival in the Empire was as much a matter of potential as it was a strategic move. The boy was already marked by the brutal conditioning that comes from living in the harshest environments, and I had come to realize that, like many of the Empire's soldiers, he was remarkably immune to the emotional conflicts that would typically hinder a child of his age. His lack of empathy, combined with his apparent fascination with violence, was a trait that would later prove invaluable in the final stages of the Chimera experiments. Objective:
The primary aim of this experiment was to test the young mobian's response to administering harm to another child. By observing his reaction to a child of similar age and background, I hoped to gauge whether his heartlessness and detachment were a product of the Empire's training or innate characteristics.
X_011, now 14 years old and nearing the limits of her conditioning, was chosen as the test subject due to her predatory instincts and her already-established bond to suffering. Her unique psychological responses, including her attachment to pain and dominance, made her an ideal candidate for testing Chromium’s detachment in the face of violence.Initial Observations:
When Chromium was placed in direct proximity to X_011, there was no sign of hesitation or conflict on his part. He followed instructions with chilling precision, showing no visible signs of empathy or discomfort when asked to harm the child. I had anticipated some level of emotional resistance or perhaps a sense of confusion, but instead, Chromium appeared to engage in the task with clinical detachment, as if he were handling a tool rather than a living, sentient being.
What was even more revealing was that, after several interactions, Chromium began to take an almost sick fascination in X_011's suffering. He did not simply carry out the tasks given to him. He seemed to enjoy testing her limits, pushing further with each iteration, as if measuring her endurance for pain and subjugation. His control over her was effortless, and his demeanor remained unshaken, a trait that was increasingly becoming apparent: Chromium did not need conditioning to be heartless. Conclusion:
Through the course of this experiment, I came to a striking realization:
Chromium was not a product of the Empire's psychological conditioning. He was already so detached, so free from the emotional constraints that typically hinder empathy, that no amount of training would have been needed to mold him into the perfect enforcer. His cruelty was not learned. It was inherent. The lack of emotional conflict in his actions underscored the terrifying reality that he was already operating at a level beyond any of the wardens training alongside him, excluding his sister, of course. His relationship with X_011, more akin to that of a handler than a peer, reflected a terrifying truth: he was incapable of seeing her as anything other than a means to an end.Ultimately, this experiment marked a turning point in my understanding of Chromium's potential. I no longer viewed him as merely a trained enforcer. Instead, I saw him as a child capable of wielding power with an unsettling ease. A reflection of the Empire’s growing influence on the next generation of its enforcers. This revelation would prove pivotal as the Chimera Project came to its violent and inevitable end.
